Raw ATM Connections (AAL*)

• Supporting UDP and TCP on ATM is awkward
• AAL0 - AAL5 are more direct interfaces
  • AAL0 is the raw, vendor-specific, hardware interface; 48-byte unreliable block transmission, etc.
  • AAL5 is similar to UDP
• Still have OS call and hardware latency
