Parallel File I/O

• Each PC can open a local file
• Parallel "file system" can be:
  • Parallel file is a set of local files, one per PC
  • Local operations are passed-through to Linux
  • Non-local operations use the network
  • Need special "parallel file" utilities for things like cat
