slide 7 of 15
Installing Linux
-
Make "boot" and "root" floppies, choosing wisely which
kernel to use for boot
-
Next, any of:
-
Configure the network support and NFS mount a directory
with the current Linux distribution disk set from another machine
-
Use some simple means (e.g.,
kermit
over RS232C)
to download a copy of the disk set
-
Make a set of floppies (a full set is nearly 100!)
-
Buy a "recent" CDROM and mount your CDROM drive
-
Do what
/sbin/setup
says
(when in doubt, install it...
some obscure things are used by software you care about)
