News & Public Demonstrations
A key goal of The Aggregate is not only to develop new
technologies, but also to get them widely deployed. This is why
most of our work is released into the public domain. This page
gives pointers to some of the PR about our work.
News
The following are news items about our work. There have been so
many news reports about KLAT2 that we've made a separate page

- For the contribution of the KLAT2 Supercomputer to science, Dietz was awarded a 2001 Computerworld Honors
Medallion.
- At IEEE/ACM SC2000,
the University of Kentucky / The Aggregate team became both the
only US university-based team to receive a 2000 Gordon Bell
Award (Honorable Mention in Price/Performance for our CFD work
on KLAT2) and the only team to receive
SC2000 awards for more than one piece of work (we also won the
HPC Games award for the Innovative Architecture of the KRAA Z-MP). See our press release for details.
- Galugtica, a rag-tag fleet of
surplus PCs driving a video wall, was on display at the ideaFestival in front
of the Kentucky Theater, in Lexington, Kentucky, September
21-23, 2000.
- KLAT2 won an Gordon Bell
Price/Performance Honorable Metion award at SC2000.

Public Demonstrations
The Aggregate's new technologies are often a little too new for
people to be comfortable with. Thus, aside from openning our
lab for countless tours, we've found it useful to field quite a
few formal research exhibits and demonstrations at workshops and
conferences. Here is the current list.
